hotels 6 or 7 arron.

We're going to Paris after Thnksgiving and are looking for a really good hotel in the 6 or 7th Arron. Budget up to 300 Eur.per day. Needs to be near metro and within easy walk of sights. Also any resturant ideas near the hotel would be appreciated.

Artus Hotel on Rue de Buci has a great location, is a wonderful hotel, near three metro stops, many good restaurants--hotel staff can help with the specifics for close-by restaurants.

May I also suggest the Relais Saint Germain, 9, carrefour de l'Odéon 9, 75006, tel. 0033.1/44.27.07.97, fax 0033.1/46.33.45.30,and Hotel de L'Abbaye, 10, Rue Cassete, 75006, tel 0033-145-44-3811, fax 0033-145-48-0786. Both are wonderful small, refined hotels, very well located in the sixth, and both are highly reccomended.

Hote de L'Abbaye web site:

http://www.hotel-abbaye.com/

Le Relais St. Germain doesn't have a web site.

Just a note of warning... DO NOT stay at LE Bourgougne et Montana. Five of us stayed there last winter and it is really, unfortunately, a dump. The elevator and plumbing kept breaking down, and some of the staff was unbelievably rude. ALso, the area around the hotel is mostly residential, with few decent restaurants. Need I say more???Probably not!

Wendy, that's surprising. Of course we didn't stay there due to the reason you cited, namely the lack of cafes and stores around the area. However, in terms of the staff, we only communicated via email early this year to get hotel information and rates. They were very prompt in their answers and sounded courteous. Maybe the staff has been changed or it's really different when you get there in person.

Do check Fodor's rants and raves about Le Relais St. Germain. There are a couple of unfavorable comments about the hotel.
