Venice Airport - need a central location to meet friends

We are flying from the U.S., friends are flying from Canada - if all goes well (what are the chances? - LOL) we will arrive within 30 minutes of each other. We would like to meet and travel on to the B&B in Venice together. Can someone suggest a good spot inside the airport that would be easy to find and meet? Maybe a restaurant or a lounge where the first arrivals could comfortably wait for the later ones. We both have directions to the B&B and if flights are delayed we will, of course, travel on seperately. Thank you.

Hi TC,

You could meet at the exit from the Customs area.

The website for the new Venice airport is www.veniceairport.it. Very easy to use and should help you decide where to meet.

Thanks. The interactive airport map is a great help. Looks like there is a small coffee shop (Marco Polo) just outside the baggage claims area where we might wait.

TC, you are welcome. I have not been to the new Venice airport yet but friends in Veneto tell me it is wonderful and not to large. Hope you and your friends have a beautiful trip. Am sure you will. Hope you file a trip report when you get home.

Returned from Italy: Venice airport is quite small and easily navigated. We found our friends with no trouble - meeting at the (one and only) small cafe just outside the arrivals area. And yes, we did manage to arrive within 15 minutes of each other - a miracle!

Note: on departure one can only get a boarding pass (and therefore proceed through security) two hours prior to the scheduled departure time. Airline lounges and most shopping is located beyond the security point, however there is a nice small restaurant on the main level and on the upper level a business center for Internet access (5 Euros per half hour) for waiting.

Beautiful new airport.

TC, am glad that everything worked out for you and your friends. Thought it would. I will miss the even smaller airport though.
But time Venice got a new one. Hope you can file a trip report when you have gotten caught up from being gone.
