Hotel Splendid in Montreux

I am close to booking all of my hotels. I have one other hotel that I am interested to see if any Fodorees have stayed. Hotel Splendid http://www.hotel-splendid.ch in Montreux. The hotel emailed me back and said that the rooms are completely renovated. I read a few postings about this hotel, but it does not seem to be a very popular hotel like Hotel Masson.

Another hotel that I am contemplating on is Hotel Negociants http://www.hotelnegociants.ch/english/index.htm, this hotel is a bit cheaper compared to Hotel Splendid and it is in Vevey. I think I want to stay in Montreux based on reading threads on this forum. But if this hotel is nice, I am willing to stay at Vevey, since it is so close to Montreux anyway.

So either Hotel Splendid or Hotel Negociants .

Hi augiechang,

Here are two reviews about the Splendid at Trip Advisor:

http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserR...reux_Vaud.html

Both are positive reviews.

A friend of mine stayed at the Negociants, liked it, and posted about it here. You can probably find it if you do a search for "Negociants." But note that you won't get a lakeview room, eh?

Have fun!

Don't be afraid to stay in Vevey. I prefer it slightly to Montreux, though I love them both. I think you mentioned there's more to do in Montreux, but that's necessarily true. And restaurant choices are definitely better and more varied (and less expensive) in Vevey.

Don't miss one of the outdoor markets. Vevey Sat AM in the town square, Vevey Tues AM on the pedestrian streets, Montreux Fri AM under the pergola.

Hi again augiechang, I saw on your Grindelwald thread that the Chalet Hohturnen might work out for you. We seem to be picking the same places for our trips!

We have booked the Hotel Negociants based on reviews here. Originally, we were hoping to find an apt. for the week in Montreux but have decided to break up our stay w/4 days in Vevey at Hotel Negociants and 3 days in Clarmont which is just outside of Morges at:

Best of luck!
