Hotel Sainte Marie

Has anyone stayed there recently? What's it like?

I wouldn't recommend the Sainte Marie. Last November I made reservations for four nights in March, then chose another hotel in a better location and emailed them in December to cancel, asking that they confirm my cancellation. They were very quick to confirm the reservation, but ignored my emails (4 total followed by a letter) to cancel. After getting home from Paris, I was surprised to find a charge for one night on my Visa (their original email clearly stated that they charge for one night if cancellation is made less than 48 hours before arrival). I have disputed the amount with Visa, as well as contacting the hotel again, and once again, hearing nothing back from them.

Maybe others have had a positive experience with them.

Sounds like a hotel to avoid.

My husband, young sister and I stayed here about three-four weeks ago. I admit that the hotel isn't in the middle of the sights, but it was a very short walk (about 300 yards) to get to the metro and then we could easily get anywhere we wanted. The hotel is on a side street, but walking toward the metro you get to a main street with a grocery store, banks and resturants etc.

The hotel itself is nice, if you are looking for budget, the rooms are small, but thats to be expected! The staff is very friendly and helpful, we even ran into one of the front desk staff as we were getting on the metro to go to the train station and he very nicely escorted us to the right area. Overall, I would stay there again. Its all a personal thing, I guess. if you have any questions, feel free to email me! [email protected] Have fun on your trip!

Thanks for your comments. I will be in Paris for one night next Wednesday and then for 3 nights at the end of July. They have agreed to store my bike crate while I tour the country for three weeks. Just wondered if it was a decent place or not.

Hey mrraam, did you stay at the Sainte Marie in Paris afterall? If so, how was everything? Is it within a 20-30 min. walk to, say, the Louvre, etc.? Did you get the rate and room you reserved? Any other info would be great... I am thinking about booking it for a trip from Dec.20-27.

I actually thought about staying there for my trip in a couple of days. In the end, I didn't try to book them.

They're located in the 2nd arrondissement bordering the 9th near the Bonne Nouvelle Metro station, I think. They're cheap, which was why I thought about them. In any case, it's definitely within walking distance of the Louvre, but there're also cheap hotels nearer the Louvre.

They're also listed on 123france.com .

In the end, I decided that it was a little too far north for me. I booked my room at De Lille/Pelican. I'm a little apprehensive, but we'll see. I need to confirm the reservation tomorrow. They charged 55 Euros per night (with private bathroom). Since almost everyone I wanted was booked, I was surprised that it was so easy to book this one. But anyway, it'll only be for two nights. I guess I'll be ok.

The hotel had a positive recent review at the www.Eurotrip.com/forum forum.
