Hotel Recommendations in Rome
In September after I fly back to Rome from Barcelona, I would like a hotel for only two days before flying back to the States. What medium priced hotel under E200 per night would you recommend, and my being rather centrally located in a must. Graci!

We stayed at the Smeraldo too and enjoyed our stay there.

I second the Hotel San Carlo !!!
I used it on my last family trip to Europe while in Roma (largely based on bookchick's recommendation) and loved it. Great location very close to the Spanish Steps (and hence the Spagna metro station), super friendly staff, and nice clean rooms with modern bathrooms. It will always be my first choice hotel when staying in Rome.

I can recommend the Fontanella Borghese which is located about halfway between the Spanish Steps and Piazza Navona.

I also very much liked the Hotel Borghese Fontanella, but liked its sister hotel Due Torre even more. Both are well -located (the first close to the Spanish steps, but far enough below to not be crazed, the Due Torre closer to Piazza Navona and the Tiber, on a small side street in a real neighbor), small (about 30 rooms), charming and air-conditioned. If you are traveling on your own and want a single, stay at the Hotel Borghese Fontanella: the singles are larger there, still small by American standards, but just fine. Breakfast is good at both plases.

I no longer know the price but the Albergo del Senato is where I stayed. It is right across from the Pantheon and we loved the location. I felt the rooms were great. My cousin's wife stays there every year on her layover to Tuscany.
