I heard today that an American and two Canadians died in this fire. There were there for the Italian Open tennis matches.

According to today's paper, the fire was caused by two young female American tourists, who tossed a cigarette but into a thrash can where they had just thrown a bottle of alcohol.

WOW! I had not read that. I hope it isn't true. Not only does it create hard feeling between countries but hopefully will ban smokers everywhere. I hope they will be punished.

On my Boston area news this morning, they reported that the couple who died were from Newington, NH but had Canadian ties. Apparently they won the trip from their employer. I think they said Harvey Industries. Very sad.
