Hotel or BB recommendation for Shannon area.

Can anyone recommend a BB or hotel in the Shannon area. Will have a car and need to drive to airport in Shannon for an early afternoon flight. Would like something in the $100 or less amount for a double/twin. Don't need anything really fancy, just nice, clean and quiet.

I can recommend the Dunaree B&B in Bunratty which is about 10-15 minutes drive from Shannon Airport. A double last summer was €64 ensuite including breakfast and it's very nice. The castle, folk park and pub in Bunratty are nice, there's not much else there. web site is www.dunaree.com

I also stayed at Dunaree B&B and loved it. I have also stayed at Bunratty Lodge B&B which is on the same road.
That area is great for the airport. Drop into Durty Nelly's near there.

I have heard a lot of good things about Headley Court, although I never stayed there. We stayed at Ashgove House with Frank and Sheila Tiernan. (Both are in Bunratty.) Our room was a bit on the small side but the bed was the most comfortable of our trip, and we truly enjoyed our hosts! Our pub of choice is Mac's, in the Folkpark. (The park closes in the evening but the pub remains open, full of locals!)

I spend the last night in Killaloe or Ennis. (Don't like to rush my departure by staying near the airport!) Killaloe is a lovely, quiet town on the banks of the Shannon, and about 45 minutes from the airport. We stay at Kincora House B&B.

on our trip last march to and from shannon we stayed our first and last nites at the fabulously comfortable B&B...Hillcrest View in Kilrush...kilrush is about 45 minutes east of shannon, above the water inlet...the house is lovely, the room very comfortable and spotless, the private bath newish and the breakfast one of the best we had on the tips...she is lovely and helpful...ask for the omlette that mr. cooks in the am....e-mail: [email protected]...4 diamonds and cost 54euro for 2...
great restaurant is hal pino's in ennis on 7 high st...go early for early bird special...we went there twice from kilrush, even though it was a bit of a drive...

I stayed at Bunratty Lodge on arrival and highly reccommend. Fab hostess, very clean comfortable rooms and beds, excellent breakfast. She was full on my last night so I stayed at Headly Ct. right next door. It was equally nice and my room had a huge bathroom. I do not see how you can go wrong at either one.

I would second the suggestion of the 2 Mile Inn, east of Bunratty...about l5 min. from Shannon airport. It IS indeed a Best Western (easy to make reservations from the States) but great for the last night of organizing luggage etc before flying home. Quiet,(on a main highway, but ask for a courtyard room), no stairs, nice sized rooms with 2 double(queen?) beds, and a great breakfast. No matter how many B&B's, guest houses, small hotels,we stay at on a trip we usually spend the first night and always the last night at an American type hotel. However, it IS a personal preference. If one has time the afternoon before, you can visit the village of Bunratty and also grab a bite at Durty Nellies!

Coming from the Dingle Peninsula you might consider NewcastleWest. There's the Courtenay Lodge on Limerick-Tralee (N-21) road and just south of there on the Old Cork Road is Killeline Leisure Park, a resort-type lodge with 20m indoor heated swimming pool, steam, sauna & workout room. It also had Mick McCoy's Sports Bar and Restaurant (owned & operated by former Dail member, John McCoy), an 18-hole Parkland Golf Course w/Kevin Doorien formerly of the Legends Course in the USA (Myrtle Beach) as Manager/Pro.

It's about 35 mi from Shannon airport, 15-min from Abbeyfeale (on the Kerry-Limerick border).
