Hotel near Barajas?

Hi,

We're facing an overnight layover in Madrid on our way back to the states in July. Any recommendations for a decent (ie: cheap. We just need to sleep there) hotel near (or easily accessible) to the airport?

Thanks!

When are you planning on returning to Madrid to catch your flight home? And when is your flight?

There are several decent hotels in the area near the airport, but you can also travel from the heart of the city to the airport in under 30 minutes.

For hotels near the airport, you can check the following web page:

then check www.gtahotels.com as most of their bookings include tax and breakfast.

mnay times they are cheaper than the hotel website.

SOME hotels offer free shuttle to airport, AND to madrid or metro station.

i have stayed several times at the mega hotel Auditorium, only because it is a good price, nice sized rooms, good bathrooms, and has free shuttle to airport AND to the "beginning" of madrid. but there is nothing at ALL around this hotel.

we paid 77 euros for room, breakfast and tax, for two, on a sunday evening.

I ate dinner there last week with my mother, and although the restaurant is minimalist decoration, the food was VERY VERY good. a little pricey, but since it was so tasty we were very happy.

the breakfast was excellent, too, and even had an omelette bar, but you had to ask them to come out and make it for you. every kind of freash fruit you could imagine was there, too.

the room is just a HUGE hall, so it is not a cozy atmosphere, but the quality is good.

come back with some hotels you are attracted to and we can comment on them.

you could stay in madrid, itself, if your flight isnīt too horribly early, and you could have a nice evening in the city.

Also check out the Barajas web site for hotel listings.

We stayed at one I booked through sol-melia.com. It wasn't great, but it was cheap and had an airport shuttle.

The only one I'd begun looking into is the Kris Cazadora but I'm not sure they have rooms to accomodate 4 people. Does anyone know how to contact a hotel directly? Venere.com doesn't list the actual website or phone # for the hotel...

Look at this website, I've used it for hotels here in Spain , they let you choose what kind of accomodation you want in the search feature and even asks for the children ages, this is the english version :

Ah! Thank you!!

And Robert2533 asked earlier--we're into Madrid after our kids' bedtime and fly back out the next day around 1PM. Not sure if that allows enough time (worthwhile) to try to "see anything". With the kids, everything takes longer and I know we'll all be antsy to get onboard.

Our itinerary includes, btw, Vienna, Budapest, Bratislava & Krakow (on our own); as well as Czech (seeing a good bit of the country as my new sister in law, who is a local is taking us on a tour). We've got a total of 22 days to do it in. Any feedback/advice on traveling with kids (I've done it with one, never with 2!) hotels, things to see and do would be greatly appreciated!
