I stayed at a Melia in Sevilla. Is the Colon close to the train station? The hotel was really a businessman's hotel, and vrry blah. What I didn't liek was that it was so far from the historic attractions of Sevilla. But perhaps there is more than one Melia in Sevilla.
There is, as you probably know, an extremely ornate historic 5 star in Sevilla, the Alfonso XIII. I've only seen it from the outside, but a friend of mine who lives in Sevilla says it is spectacular.

No, nessundorma, that's not the Colon hotel. The (now) Melia Colon is an old building which is very, very central. It's well known because many toreros go there when they bullfight at the Maestranza. I was there but too many years ago to give an advice (15).Then it was fairly luxurious , although some rooms were tiny they said, but mine was a big one
It's not the Alfonso XIII but I think it's a pretty good one and the location is very good.
