Hotel Kyriad-Rennes, France

Does anyone have any knowledge as to what to expect should I book a room at a Kyriad Hotel near the train station in Rennes.

It appears this is a chain type hotel. It is very cheap, 53E - 70E/night. I want to stay here for the convenience of taking an early morning TGV which is across the street.

Is is like a Motel 6? Is it safe? They mention something like we have watch guards at some of our hotels.

It also gets 1 review on Trip Advisor, but it could be from the hotel itself.

Any advise would be welcome.

Kyriad is a well known chain hotel in France. It belongs to the same group Envergure as Campanile and First Class hotels http://www.envergure.fr/
I would say it is a 2 star hotel like Ibis from Accor group. No worry to have.

Thank you cocofromdijon. I appreciate your input. I will probably stay there as it is very convenient to the station for our early morning train.

Merci.

Kyriad is an 'atypical' chain like Best Western or Mercure. It runs properties of all shapes and sizes, from modern to historic. It's best to look at the web description of the specific hotel to know how it will (probably) be. There is also Kyriad and Kyriad Prestige, to distinguish their 2-star from their 3-star hotels.

I don't know the particular hotel, but I can tell you that the area around the railway station in Rennes is relatively quiet and safe -- more so than in many other cities of similar size.

Every city seems to have a population of people who might disturb your peace, and could imaginably be a threat. In Rennes, they are more likely to congregate around the Place Ste Anne, on the other side of town.
