Hotel in Paddington, London
Does anyone know of a good hotel in the Paddington area of London priced around $US100/60 GBP per room per night.
I have found a website that has many hotels listed for around this price and some look very reasonable, however any personal recommendations would be appreciated.
Paddington has been chosen pretty much because that is where I have always stayed on visits to London and I find that it is a great location both for touring around and it is very convenient for the Heathrow Express - however we'd be happy to consider a hotel in another area of central London if anyone had a suggestion that offered very good value for money but still very convenient for the tube etc.
Thanks in advance.

You might want to try the following hotels. All three of them are small properties (Westminster being the largest, R.Cambridge being the smallest) but they are comfortable and should be about right for your budget.
Darlington Hyde Park Hotel (www.darlingtonhotel.com), The Royal Cambridge or the Westminster (actually Bayswater).
It is worth checking around with some of the bigger hotels as there are many special offers in London hotels at the moment.

I stayed at the Royal Eagle earlier this year. It's about a 5-minute walk from Paddington train station. The room was clean and comfortable.
The rack rate for a double room is 120 GBP (includes VAT and breakfast), but I just did a quick google and turned up a Web special of 64 GBP.

I've also stayed at the Quality Hotel Paddington. Very clean, nice staff, bigger room than expected, good breakfast. Can't remember the rate but somewhere in the 80-85GBP range I believe. Very convenient to the tube and about 2 or 3 blocks from Kensington Gardens. Lots of restaurants and small grocers in the area.
