Hotel in Eastbourne?

Any recommendations for a 3-star hotel or B&B that is charming and centrally located? Thanks!

I think the old fashioned Grand is the best hotel in town but have a look at www.eastbourne.org for some more ideas. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

In March I was visiting friends who live in Friston, which is near Eastbourne. They took me to lunch at The Grand, which really does live up to its name. It's a beautiful hotel, and lunch was excellent, service too. I don't know that I would describe it as "charming" -- may be too Grand for that (it's rated 5*). As I recall, it is the last hotel along the "front" before you head west up towards Beachy Head.

For other options (looked like there were many, varying quality) try a search on the AA web site (like US AAA, site is <http://www.theaa.com/> or smoothhound.co.uk

Thanks, all! The Grand has a special of L140 per night, room only no breakfast. Not too bad. I was looking for something a little less pricey, US$150-200, as I'd rather have the spendy hotel in Paris than Eastbourne.

Thanks, Sheila! We are, indeed, going to a conference. I'll check them both out.
