Hotel in Eastbourne?
Any recommendations for a 3-star hotel or B&B that is charming and centrally located? Thanks!

I think the old fashioned Grand is the best hotel in town but have a look at www.eastbourne.org for some more ideas. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

In March I was visiting friends who live in Friston, which is near Eastbourne. They took me to lunch at The Grand, which really does live up to its name. It's a beautiful hotel, and lunch was excellent, service too. I don't know that I would describe it as "charming" -- may be too Grand for that (it's rated 5*). As I recall, it is the last hotel along the "front" before you head west up towards Beachy Head.
For other options (looked like there were many, varying quality) try a search on the AA web site (like US AAA, site is <http://www.theaa.com/> or smoothhound.co.uk |
Thanks, all! The Grand has a special of L140 per night, room only no breakfast. Not too bad. I was looking for something a little less pricey, US$150-200, as I'd rather have the spendy hotel in Paris than Eastbourne.

The Alexandra and the Lansdowne are both OK, bearing in mind my experiecnce has always been at conferences.

Thanks, Sheila! We are, indeed, going to a conference. I'll check them both out.

The Hydro is also very nice!
