Hotel in Dublin
I am in the process of planning my trip to Ireland in June 2012. My fiance and I are going for our Honeymoon and will be spending a couple days in Dublin. We are looking for an inexpensive, but nice hotel (Dublin isn't really an area we want to splurge in). I done some research, but I am not sure what the best area to stay in would be. Some of the things we are planning on doing are the Guinness tour, the Literary Pub Crawl, and a hop on bus tour. We would like pretty central location because we are planning on having a car while we are in Dublin. Also, if anyone has any other suggestions on things we should do, feel free to add those as well! Thanks!

Having a car in Dublin is a nonsense. You can;t park it and driving it around will be very expensive. Is this the middle of your trip - and you already have a car you don't want to drop and rerent? If so I would try to get a hotel or B&B with free parking - which will probably mean staying outside of the center.
Sorry can;t make recos - this isn't our price point.

My first recommendation would be to NOT have a car in Dublin. Driving there is difficult and parking is hard to find and expensive. You won't need a car there, so it would be better to pick it up as you leave Dublin. You can catch a bus from the city to the airport where you can then pick up your car and be on your way.
An alternative would be to keep your car and stay outside the city in a place like Malahide or Howth that has DART and bus transportation to Dublin. Since we were planning on spending 1 day in Dublin and several other days making day trips near Dublin (Newgrange, Glendalough, Trim , etc.), we opted to stay in Malahide and take the DART into Dublin for our day of sightseeing. It was fast and easy and our B&B provided free parking for our car.
Finally, I would recommend doing a tour of Kilmainham Gaol (one of the stops on the HOHO bus tour) and the Historical Walking Tour of Dublin.

I meant that we are not having a car in Dublin... that was a typo. We are picking it up on our way out of Dublin. Sorry! I put that because I didn't want to be too far away from anything because we WON'T have a car.
