Hotel for X-Mas in Rome
We need two rooms; I'd like to spend under 180 Euros per night. The ideal hotel would:
be centrally located to tourist sights
have a restaurant
be clean, attractive, and friendly, with comfie beds and large rooms.
I would love to stay at Albergo del Senato or the Ponte Sisto but on their websites rooms are prohibitively expensive.
I've spent hours on the Internet today--I can't keep doing this!
I did find Hotel River Palace, TA ranked #94
Grand Hotel Palatino, TA ranked #96
Hotel Modigliani, TA # 7
I would love some help!!! Or some suggestions?

You do mean per room, right?
I wouldn't consider the listed hotels as "centrally located". My personal preference is the historic center. But, then, I've never limited my search to hotels with restaurants. Ditto to the above comment. Limiting to hotels with a restaurant cuts down choices immensely. Most have a breakfast room, but do not serve beyond mid-morning.

Someone on this board recently stated that they were being quoted $170 for the del Senato this winter. I would at least contact them directly to see if they have something available for your price range and dates. Can't hurt.
For other deals try eurocheapo.com We got an icredible deal for 85 euro in Milan when we had orginally booked the same place at 150 euro.
And the central location is definitely the area of the Pantheon/Piazza Navonna.
You can walk anywhere, and the night time is lively and lovely.

Judy,
If you are interested in the Ponte Sisto, check the rates offered through www.reservationitaly.com
They offer rates up to 50% less that the hotel's rack rates. We reserved through them this past August and everything went fine.
The hotel definitively does not command the rack rates they post in their website. I find them outrageous for the product they offer!

Dear Judy - is there some reason you don't want to use www.venere.com?
Or any of the other hotel agencies?
alternatively, if you need two rooms an apartment might suit better - more room for less.
Try googling "apartments in Rome" or look at www.slowtravel.com.
good luck!
