Hotel Duc de St Simon
Hi! Has anyone stayed at this hotel? Looking for first hand knowledge. I've searched this site and found limited info on this particular hotel. I just booked it for 5 days in April---looks very charming!
I've been "lurking around" this site for the last few weeks--great info abounds! thanks!

Barbara: Don't worry that place is very nice, quiet but conveniently located on Rue Saint-Simon, off Blvd. Saint-Germain/Blvd. Raspail. Some great little French bistrots on the same street. Have not stayed there myself, but friends of mine stay there about once or twice a year.
They say it's a a charming little place with a small garden and nothing makes you believe you are in the heart of Paris. For me, it's just a little too pricy and I prefer a different area of Paris.

Barbara:
In Montparnasse 6th/edge 14th. Very convenient when arriving at Gare de l'Est from Switzerland (direct metro) and lots of bus and metro lines to catch easily from that area. It's a little less touristy than some other parts, but I like the 7th very much, esp. where your hotel is located. Don't miss Rue du Bac. Some beautiful shops and patisseries and Le Bon Marché, a very nice department store you can walk to. Go to their Food Halls "La Grande Epicerie. It's amazing.
Have fun!

We stay there every time we go to Paris and have never been disappointed. It is beautifully decorated, and the service is impeccable, its also well situated very close to the Metro (Rue du Bac) and in a very sophisticated area of Paris (we think!!) Please stay there - you certainly won't be disappointed.

Thanks Nerida....I actually booked it before posting the message. It sounds like such an awesome place even though I have not found much info about it. I was just looking for some first hand confirmation that it was a great place. So thanks for that! Any restaurant recommendations? ....oh! and how is the hotel's breakfast? Is it worth it or should we just go to a cafe?

Hi Barbara,
We stayed here in late September last year. We really enjoyed it. It was very well located and within short walking distance to the Orsay and the Louvre. We ate a restaurant just around the corner from the hotel called "La Petite Chaise". The food was excellent. I had Salmon and my husband had Beef Bourgenoine (I know that's not spelled right). Both melted in your mouth! We also had French Onion Soup which the best we had ever had in our lives. And the Creme Brulee was excellent as well. I think we paid around $80-$100 including wine. I would definitely recommend this spot! We ate another restaurant two doors down from the hotel. I can't remember the name right now. But it wasnt as good. We never had breakfast at the hotel. Instead we bought small quiches or croissants at a patisserie on Rue de Bac. If you have any more questions, please feel free to email me privately anytime.
I'm jealous! I really want to go back!!
Have fun!
