Have spent a lot of time on the net looking for Rome Hotels. Finally settled on Hotel des Artistes. Now that I've read the bullitin board, am nervous as this is near Termini. Has anhyone out there been here and how was it? I stillo have time to change.

I'd be interested in hearing feedback as well. I thought it sounded like a great place-read the reviews on their website! But then I got a bit suspicious after reading some of the Fodor's rants and raves

I've stayed at Hotel des Artistes on 2 different trips to Rome and found it to be just what I needed at a very reasonable price-and I would stay there again. The area is north enough of Termini and is quite safe and the street is quite peaceful enough. It is located just around the corner from a Metro stop too, so is convenient to get around. Only takes about 7-8 minutes to walk to Termini. Nice little restaurant options in the area. Have you done a search on this board yet? You will find many comments on this hotel. Just ask for a room on the top floor (the same floor as the reception) as they seemed to be all newly remodeled. We had a room with shared bath and were quite satisfied with it.
