It's a budget "fave" on this forum. Do a search using the search function above and you'll find *plenty* of positive reviews

Have never stayed there but I have an interesting story. Last Sept., I booked a reservation for seven nights for Feb. A few weeks ago, I wrote to them, referencing my reservation and asking about a particular room. I was sent a standard reply of "Sorry, we are fully booked". I was sure that they had not understood my letter so I sent another, asking if they showed a reservation for me for Feb and included my confirmation number. NO RESPONSE. I waited a week and then decided to book elsewhere. Having done that, I faxed them a formal cancellation letter, just in case I did have a reservation. Again, NO RESPONSE. I'll let you know if they charge my credit card when I don't show up next week.

I stayed there in November and found it to be a great deal. My room (a single) was small, but clean and comfortable. I would stay there again without any reservations.

Peg:

This worries me what you say about Champ de Mars. We have reservations there for May - made them well over a month ago. While I have a letter confirming our room, I didn't get any confirmation number.

Should I be concerned??

Carol, I don't know what to tell you. Maybe the number on my letter was just a reference number and not a confirmation number, but the letter said that I was confirmed and they looked forward to me visiting them or something like that. I used the reference number when I wrote to see if that would assist them but like I said before...no response. If I were you, I'd definitely reconfirm prior to leaving for France. I did have a couple of people tell me that because they are so popular, the service may be slipping. I am just thankful that I didn't show up there, only to be told, "sorry, we are fully booked"!

Carol, we have reservations at Champ de Mars for five nights in July. I specifically asked the hotel if there was a confirmation number for the reservation and the they said that their e-mail was the only confirmation document. You can bet I will be checking and double checking, but I haven't heard any other negative experiences on this forum besides the one Peg described.

Nano:
Thanks for the positive words. I too have never heard anything about this hotel, so I was kind of surprised to hear with Peg had written. I hope that was more the exception and not the rule!

I'm sure that this doesn't happen very often or they would not receive such glowing reviews. I must have been the one to "slip through the cracks". However, I am now happily booked at a charming place near Saint Sulpice. This was probably the best thing, as I needed a nudge to get out of my 7th arrondissment rut. It's such a comfortable area but I need to broaden my horizons. Don't be nervous, I'm sure that you both will have a lovely stay there!
