I believe the Britannique has the better location but in terms of quality and service, personally, I would choose Hotel Therese. I'm going by the write-ups and websites for these hotels, but I've stayed at the Therese's sister hotel, Le Verneuil, and it was great. Be aware that the Therese's standard single & double rooms are tiny. I asked and they say it's 11 meters sq. inclusive of the bathroom.

I stayed at the Therese a year ago...very nice, clean, conveneient to everything..great right bank location for easy left bank access. The standard rooms are rather small..as are most standard rooms in Paris hotels...and in many deluxe rooms in Paris, for that matter!!

The Therese has a great location as it is on a small and very quiet side street of Rue Richelieu and very close to Palais Royal. Rooms are small for standard double -I do not think there is a single rooms as such. Next size up are OK - compact yes but not untypical for Paris. Service is good. Therese is one of the few hotels that do not offer any great discounts on web as prices are fair whereas so many 4 star hotels in PAris are priced at 350 Euros and at this price are appalling value but they regularly are priced at 200 on the web- see wotif.com to see this for lots of hotels.

One thing I noticed about the Therese and the Verneuil is the personalized service. I can only speak about the Verneuil personally and I have not experienced such personal interaction and service from staff before. I stayed at a few other hotels in Paris (a couple right nearby the Verneuil) and none compare with the service.
I find the same with the Therese as I've emailed them a few times recently. The same warmth came through from the staff there.
I think the hotels' owner, Madame de Latrre, really know how to pick good staff.
Therese's decor is modern while the Britannique has the typical French old-style decor.
