Judyrem, there's a great little bakery/deli at the corner of Schwanthalerstrasse and Schillerstrasse. This is near the Marriott Courtyard, and I think it's also near Kings Hotel, if I remember correctly. I'm sure there are others, but I really liked that little place.

The above post is about Munich.
Re my previous post, believe me that I wouldn't normally spend 16 Euros on breakfast, but with no other practical options (except for going to the train station), it seemed like a good deal so we could get going and maximize our time.

venezuela and sf7307 - you are both ABSOLUTELY correct. I actually told friends afterwards that I stayed in B&B's "without the second "B". I guess that I am the one who called them B&B's, for lack of a better term. Out of the three we stayed in, the first definitely did NOT serve any breakfast but DID have a complete kitchen for the use of guests and supplied with fixings to make a very simple breakfast, which we decided was not for us and preferred to be pampered a bit with real Italian morning coffee and fresh cornettos!! The second one was actually called a Residenza and was an entire apartment where we could have (but did not) prepare a complete breakfast if we wanted. And the third, again had a complete kitchen for guest's use, minus as many supplies as the first one had, but again we preferred to go out. During high season, the last two places DO serve breakfast for those who want it, but it would be extra cost I believe!!

Sorry, but I somewhat disagree with your geralization that, "any of those would be better than..."
I think it depends on the hotel's breakfast offering.
I never travel on business in Europe but one thing which IS important to me is the quality AND THE EXTENT of the breakfast offering wherever I decide to stay.
I don't want to go out looking for a decent place to eat in the morning although I agree that can be fun and memorable..it can also be a pain in the ass, too.

Since I like to splurge whenever possible on vacation, I usually have room service breakfast. I like to lounge around and have my coffee and a roll in my room. Then get dressed and head out for the day. There are usually plenty of opportunities to experience the small cafes during the day. And Starbucks would be my choice only if the last place on earth!

The cost of the breakfast has little to do with the quality or quantity of the food in France.
Your room rate may include breakfast or it may not. If it doesn't, then breakfast price is usually about 10% of the rack room rate, per person.
So, if that's a Novotel with a room rate of 120€, breakfast is generally 12€ per person. Now, if it's the Hilton CDG that has rack rate of about 300€, breakfast is 30€. Even if I have gotten the room for US$100 on priceline.
That's the general pricing. Food can be good, can be bad, can be plentiful, can be somewhat limiting.
