Hotel between Cherbourg and Bayeux

Hi we are planning to be in France in August arriving from UK on a ferry to Cherbourg.
We are looking for a reasonably inexpensive hotel somewhere between Cherbourg and Bayeux.
We just need 1 night as our accomodation/Gite is booked already.
Has anyone any suggestions?
We have been to France many times before and normally arrange a Campanile but we are looking for something a little more traditional just for this one night.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

I have been looking at Manoir de Carel, although it is nearer to Bayeux than Cherbourg. It looks nice on the net, but so far I haven't been able to find any comments from people who have visited it.

Hi underhill, cmcfong
Thanks for the replies
Reasonably inexpensive to me is is around 80-120 Euros ?
but we are a family of 4 so we may need 2 rooms, if we can't all get into one.
Thanks I will investigate the Manoir de Carel

Near Bayeux is a private château B&B, owned by a man who speaks impeccable English and is very, very nice and helpful. It's the Château de Cottun, and rooms around 95€, breakfast included. South of Rouen is the Novotel Rouen Sud, with rooms also at 95. Novotels are pretty dependable; rooms are of a decent size. You can find the hotels on the Accor.com web site.

Another option: go to http://www.logis-de-france.fr/uk/index.htm Click on "Find a hotel - on a map" then "Basse Normandie" and "Manche." You will see several Logis de France hotels between Cherbourg and Bayeux. There is one that looks especially nice just N. of St. Lo (a bit out of the way, but not much) called "du Chateau d'Agneaux." (Rouen, BTW, is very much out of the way - at least as far the other side of Bayeux as from Cherbourg to Bayeux.)

Logis de France hotels are generally clean, reasonably attractive and not too expensive places (rated from 1 to 4 "Chimneys&quot and almost always have a good restaurant attached.

Have a great trip!

If you want cheap and clean in Bayeux try the Hotel Bayeux. A room (LARGE) was $45/night. It is plain but very nice. They have a locked car park outside the front door. It is a 5 minute walk to the tapestry, and in the shadow of the cathedral. We enjoyed it very much.
