Hotel Atlante Star - Please help

Iīm going nuts - two kinds of information about this hotel near the Vatican. Good location, completely renovated, beautiful views and wonderful breakfast. Located in Vatican, but near enough to walk to Piazza Navona and Pantheon. Shops and restaurants nearby. On the other hand: staff not helpful, service not good and a "somewhat strange hotel" ??? Does anyone know this hotel and could give me advice? Thank you.

I would say you've gotten the advice you are looking for Mariah. I stayed here for 5 days and while very expensive, I thought it a fine hotel. People may call it "strange" cause it's not laid out like a Holiday Inn. I don't know what others demand from the staff but they were helpful when I asked them for anything. And yes, the restraunt and views are even better than advertised. So what are you looking for? If you want to be closer to the central district, than look elsewhere, if you want a quiet neighborhood close to the Vatican, then this is your hotel.
Mariah:

My wife and I stayed at The Alante Star for 3 long nights and what you are hearing from both sides is true.

This is a great location for the Vatican area with so so restaurants in the neighborhood. You can walk to Pantheon etc and it is a beautiful walk. on the other side, this is a strange hotel. Our room was outdated but did overlook St Peters. The street noise was incredible until almost 1:00AM. Bottomline, if you want to stay in the Vatican area, this is probably the best. My suggestion would be to stay around The Pantheon and make the walk to the Vatican. There is a Holiday Inn (crowne plaza) by the Panteon that is about the same money as the Alante Star. Plus if you stay in The Panteon area you can mhave dinner at Fortunatos de Pantheon. (locals place) No matter where you stay, Rome is the greatest.

Thanks Leo and Tony. I just wanted a confortable and quiet place, and was worried with the expression "strange hotel" (respectful? donīt know how to explain in english). I am traveling by myself, and I would like to stay in a pleasant place with a nice restaurant. Ok Tony, Rome is the greatest - but the first rule of a single female traveller is to walk all day until you are dead - then at night go to hotel to have a good dinner and rest. Thank you gentlemen.

Mariah, We will also stay at the Atlante Star this year and I asked about the hotel and received similar response. Read the answers on my posting: "ROME HOTELS NEAR THE VATICAN". We are excited about our visit to Rome and looking forward to eating on the rooftop of this hotel!
Claudia
