Hotel advice please - Riviera and Chianti regions

Ciao!

Can anyone provide feedback on a couple of hotels?

1. Hotel Laurin in Santa Margherita

2. Relais Borgo Peitrafitta in Castellina

Thanks!

S,

We stayed in Hotel Laurin in May 2000 for 3 nights. Great location right on the marina. We loved our large room with a huge, private terrace. Clean, quiet. Typical breakfast, just fine.

Loved SML and the Ligurian Coast would have liked to spend one more day.

Buon viaggio!

Grazie Dayle!

Can you tell me, are you able to walk from the train station to the Laurin?

Syd,

Upon arrival, not knowing exactly where the hotel was, we took a taxi. It was a short ride! We walked when we left by train, although the route we took did involve a few stairs. We realized later that we could have taken a slightly longer route by following the road and skipping the stairs. We pack light, so it was not a big deal.

If you would like a recommendation for Chianti: Hotel Residence San Sano in the tiny village of San Sano. Heavenly 4* and untouristed tiny village. You can see them on www.chiantinet.it

Buon viaggio!

Thanks again. We'll be travelling light as well so I think a walk will be fine. I found a nice little map of SML that shows the train station and hotel on
www.santamargheritaturismo.it.

Thanks for the tip on the Chianti place also.

We stayed at Pietrafitta last October and will be going back for a week again next month. We loved it although you must realize it is a tiny remote - nothing is within walking distance...a short car ride will get you into Catellina which has many restaurants. The apartments themselves are beautifufl and first class. At the time we were there one of the fireplaces were working yet as they had not been permitted. Some construction work was still going on. Pool is beautiful although it was too cool for use. Breakfast is not provided so you will need to provide your own provisions from Castellina. Kitchens are small but work well. Dishwasher and clothes washing machine provided. Rooms are beautifully furnished. Owners are very helpful although the wife speaks very little English. The only negative I could comment on is that parking is not permitted near your unit. You must drive your car down to a small parking area a bit away from the houses. Stay here. It is special!
