Hot chocolate "cloying" -- well, it is very thick and rich, and the surroundings are simply beautiful as well as historical. The waitstaff seems to be typical, we have had brusque staff just about anywhere and everywhere on occasion. Angelina's chocolate is extremely thick and mousse-like, perhaps other places in the city have succeeded in matching it. But it's not Angelina's. They sold it packaged for some time, even was available here in the US, but those sacks didnt come close to the real thing. Cute souvenir though. Sorry "nannibray" do not recall price but do not recall it being over the top vis-a-vis other Paris expenditures, and probably not as much as the noisette crepes at the outdoor stands along Rue Rivoli, probably not the spot to find Parisian bargains. Let's say, more than a cup of coffee but less than a glass of fine wine-- but it'll hold you until dinner without snacking (well maybe just a bit of cheese)!
