Honfleur: Le Chat, L'Ecrin & parking
We will be in Honfleur on a Friday night in early Oct. I'm concerned about the parking situation. Le Chat says parking is on the street. Has this been a problem for anyone? L'Ecrin has thir own parking area. How far a walk is L'Ecrin from to the old harbour? Any comments would be most apprciated. Thanks, Jean.

I'd opt for l'Ecrin. Parking is a problem in Honfleur, and Le Chat is situated right on the main market square. You'll have to park your car fairly far away on Friday night because there is, I believe, if they ehaven't changed the day, a Saturday market right in the square that begins setting up early - around 5-6 a.m. last time we stayed there. You may also be disturbed by the noise of the market setting up if your room is on the square side. I haven't stayed at the Ecrin, but I have heard many good reports from people who have.

I'd vote for L'Ecrin as well. I stayed there in late June and it is an easy walk to the Harbor area - just 5 to 10min and they offer off street parking. All the rooms are different, some more ornate than others. The breakfast service is lovely, with a very attentive server. We enjoyed our stay there. <BR>Barb
