Honeymoon weekend in Paris- what would you do?
Hello! My fiance and I will be spending the last weekend of our honeymoon in Paris (3 nights, 2 days), after a trip to Florence and Montepulciano.
I've been to Paris once (fiance's first time though), and I have a few ideas, but I am interested to hear how you Fodorites would spend the time. I'm sure you have suggestions I'd never have thought of for the perfect itinerary.
Let your imaginations fly!

Do you know where you're staying? Because with that limited amount of time (plus the fact that you may be a bit tired from the earlier part of your trip), it might make sense to just be mellow and hang out, soaking up the neighborhood vibes.
But here are a few other thoughts. My husband and I spent the latter part of our honeymoon in Paris and the most romantic parts for us were gazing down at the city from a top the Butte Montmartre/Sacre Coeur; walking by the Seine; having a drink at any of the fabled jazz age cafes--Deux Magots, La Coupole, Le Select, Le Flore, La Rotunde; having dinner at one of the small restaurants on Place Dauphine; having lunch under the arcade at the Place de Vosges. I could go on--we find romance almost everywhere we go in Paris. But of course, it all depends on your interests--you may want to throw in a museum or shopping.
What time of year will you be there?

Oops, time of year would be helpful- we will be there in early June.
Thank you for the great suggestions! This is just what I was hoping for- some great personal experiences about how to spend a few days.

Well, since it's his firt trip, I think he might find an overview tour of the sights interesting. One way to do it is on L'Open Tour bus http://www.paris-opentour.com/index_eng.htm
Another way is to use the public bus network http://www.fodors.com/forums/threadselect.jsp?fid=2&tid=34568214

Just thought of something else--you might want to go out and buy a copy of Thirza Vallois' book, Romantic Paris, which offers lots of ideas for romantic spots and activities. I'm sure something in there will fit your definition of romance.

Go to the Eiffel tower at dusk to see the view and stay up there until it gets dark. Walk across the Seine and up the stairs to Trocadero and take photos of the Eiffel from there. Then walk over to the Arc and take in the sights of the Alexander bridge, Pettite Palace,Grand Palace, and Invalides while you stroll down the Champs to the Concorde. Stroll past the Tuilleries and the Louvre. Depending on how tired you are, pop into Place Vendome or Madeline area or just keep strolling down the Seine towards the islands. My opinion, walking this path is the only way to get the real feel of the city of lights. I also go to Montmatre and Sacre Coeur at night. Apoligize for my spelling I have that nasty flu and half asleep.

parisnow, thanks for the suggestions- sounds heavenly!
ira, I just wanted to get an idea of how you all would spend a weekend in Paris- honeymoon or otherwise. I thought perhaps we might get some fun, off-the-beaten-path suggestions that way!

I know to some I am sounding like a broken record, but take the RER to Chatou and have lunch on the Ile des Impressionistes at the Maison Fournaise, where Renoir painted "Luncheon of the Boating Party."

Hi tar,
>..I thought perhaps we might get some fun, off-the-beaten-path suggestions...<
This is your wife's first visit to Paris. I suggest that the best visit she could have is you taking her to the places that struck you when you were there your first time.

You are correct, I am female
Not a problem! He has never been to Paris, and I've only been for a few days. Because we're only going for a weekend, we're going to save the major tourist attractions for a trip next year.
