Honeymoon Specifics - Mykonos, Santorini, Athens

My fiance and I are getting married and then leaving for our honeymoon in 2 weeks. We have booked all our travel around Greece - we fly to Athens then to Mykonos, ferry to Santorini and then fly back to Athens.

We are super excited and right now are looking for suggestions for things to do - we aren't sure if everything will be open in mid-late May. We love exploring, getting a feel for the culture, and meeting the locals. We're up for anything and especially love catching a great sunset/sunrise. Since we've been so busy planning the wedding, we haven't had much time to look into great things to do/places to see, places for live music, restaurants/cafes, bars, lounges, etc. and were hoping to get some suggestions on here. We're not really into the club scene, but do love going out for drinks (especially on vacation) and being that we'll be in Mykonos, will likely go out to a club at least once. Some details about our trip:

Mykonos: We will be there for 3 nights and staying at the Vencia hotel. Plan on getting a rental vehicle (ATV or car) for at least part of the time. Any cruises around the island that are nice? I've been to Delos before, so not sure we'd want to do that again or not.

Santorini: We'll be there for 4 nights and staying in Imerovigli. Plan on getting a rental vehicle (ATV or car) for at least part of the time. We heard that Santorini has some nice wineries - any in particular you would suggest? And, any cruises around Santorini that are noteworthy?

Athens: 2 nights (but really only 1.5 days) at O&B Boutique hotel. Aside from the Acropolis, not sure we want to spend all that much time in Athens unless there are some other great things to see. We'd be up for a day trip, though, if there are nice nearby towns/cities/islands.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

If you're American or Canadian be sure to go to your local AAA/CAA office to pick up an International Driving Permit, no test or membership required.

Sigalas Winery in Oia has been winning some awards. Boutari, Santo and Antonious Wineries also have excellent vintages. You might enjoy a winery tour or a stop at the Koutsogiannopoulos Wine Museum.

For a cruise look at the website for Captain Ted's Blue Lagoon Cruises.

Athens is a big city with lots to do and see, if you only are interested in seeing the Acropolis, then 1/2 day would be enough.

Since you are not mentioning the New Acropolis Museum, i assume that you are not interested in that.

As for day trips , during your only available day in Athens, you could book through your hotel a full day tour to Mycenae, Epidaurus and Nafplio, or to Delphi.
There's also one day cruise to 3 islands, Aegina, Poros and Hydra on offer.

Thank you both so much for your help! And brotherlee, we already got an International Driving Permit (I saw one of your previous posts on another board) - thanks for the tip!

Are there any sights/restaurants/bars etc. you would recommend?

Have lunch on the wharf in Amoudi Bay below Oia. You can drive down there. Visit Akrotiri and Ancient Thera, the island's two archaeological sites.

My wife and I hit these 3 spots in summer of 2010. We rented a car in all 3 locations, took our GPS with us, and just drove. Had a great time. Rent a convertible SMART car in Santorini and Mykonos. If you like to party, hit the "Paradise" beaches at night on Mykonos. Gets WILD!

We ventured to all of the beaches on Santorini (red Beach was a nice hike). We also ate an awesome restaurant and watched the sunset in Santorini. Not up on the high-cliff-side. We drove all the way down and around to the bottom of the cliff and ate next to the water.

Hi Megan

Here are some Mykonos day-tours with rates for 2012. Some of them are island cruises. Hopefully these will give you a few ideas:
