Honeymoon In Scotland - Edinburgh to Glencoe?
Greetings,
Flying into Edinburgh on June 1.
Flying home from Glasgow on June 7.
I want to spend 3 nights in Edinburgh, but would love to Trek out into the wilderness of Scotland:
See Rugged Mountains
Visit Country Pubs
Visit Small Villiages
Seems like Glencoe is the place. But seeing my itinerary thus far, what are your thougths? Also, I can't seem to find a bus to Glencoe from Edinburgh (and I don't want to take the risk of driving on the Left side of the road...yikes)
Thanks,

If you want to get into the "wilderness" you really should consider renting a car. Not for Edinburgh of course. But to tour through the Trossachs and Glencoe you would really want a cr. Buses are mainly good for getting from one place to another - not for seeing the sites or exploring.
Is there a particular reason you don't want to drive? Thousands of visitors do it every day.

I understand your trepidation, but as a 50 year old ambidextrous driver, I assure you, you have nothing to fear.
I'd normally suggest one of the minibus (van) tours- Haggis, Timberbush etc- but maybe not onyour honeymoon.
Would you consider hiring a driver?
Otherwise how about taking the train from Glasgow to Mallaig, getting out when the humour takes you?

I'm not sure Glencoe is the place - it is just rugged scenery, you know, no villages. Most people only go there for hillwalking. It does have one pub, though, the Clachaig Inn, which is quite nice.
Sheila's suggestion of the train to Mallaig is a good one - lots to see en route & no worries about driving.
