Honeymoon Dilemma
I have 15 days to plan a honeymoon vacation in Europe and don't know where to start. My first thought was Paris, Lugano, Venice and somewhere on the Amalfi Coast. Other alternatives I'm considering include the Loire Valley, Southern France, Spain (Madrid and/or Sevilla) and Morocco. Any combination of the above could work, as I have been blessed with frequent flyer miles to burn! Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Just one word of advice: whatever you decide to do -- do NOT over-do it. Don't try to squeeze in 2, 3, 4 countries or cities, just because you think you have the time -- or the miles. Take it slow, catch your breath....A city destination and one that's more rural have the makings of a fine honeymoon.....

Just to clarify: are you LEAVING in 15 days, or is your honeymoon fifteen days long? If it's the latter, then I would suggest halving each itinerary and considering more choices. Examples: Paris/Lugano/Venice or Venice/Amalfi Coast. Loire Valley/Southern France or Southern France/Spain or Spain/Morocco.
I'm a fan of whirlwind tours, but not for a honeymoon.

I definitely agree - don't spend your honeymoon running around, you're just too tired afterwards. My husband and I went to Hawaii, but had originally planned to honeymoon in Rome and then the Amalfi Coast (we had to change plans due to his British visa restrictions). Positano in the Amalfi Coast is supposed to be one of the best honeymoon spots. The Hotel San Pietro is a gorgeous spot, built into a cliff on the Amalfi Coast with an incredible view. I've been to Rome, it's one of the most romantic and exciting cities to visit - amazing sightseeing and restaurants. But I would definitely limit your travel to one city each in 2 countries or 2-3 cities within one country and see everything.

Justin,
How about a European cruise? That way you could see a few cities in Europe without adding the stress and strain of meeting schedules. You might cruise the wine rivers of Germany or the Loire of France, do a classical music cruise on the Danube, or go from Lyon to Avignon on the Rhone, or even cruise the Med from Nice to Rome. Check out KD cruises, Wind Star cruises, or smallshipcruises.com.
Good Fun!!

Suzann

I agree -- if you only have 15 days, I think I would at most do Paris, Venice, and the Amalfi coast. Lugano is lovely and quaint and beautiful -- but in my opinion a bit less romantic than the other three. You may even want to narrow it down to two destinations with a week in each, which would be more relaxing.

Hi, Justin. We spent 3.5 weeks in Europe for our h/moon. One of the most simply rrromantic places to spent our h.moon was.... VENICE. We'll definitely return to this decaying beauty of Europe. Try not to miss. If U decided on Venice, try to venture to the off-beaten tourist track for lunch/dinner. You'll be amazed with the food.

Happy planning.

Hi Justin,
I honeymooned for 15 days in Italy in 1997. We visited Rome, Orvieto, Florence, Venice, Lake Como, Cinque Terre, and Assissi. We had a wonderful time and like Venice and the Cinque Terre the most. We didn't book ahead so we could go at our own pace. Only you and your wife to be will know which pace is best for you. Italy is so romantic, it is perfect for a honeymoon.
