My fiance and I would really appreciate any recommendations you might have for our honeymoon. We are looking to go to Paris and the Italian Riviera and have 2 or 2 and 1/2 weeks time. We would love to hear a suggested route as well. Thank you in advance!

hard to advise without knowing what time of year you are going, how you want to divide your time, what interests the two of you (relaxation? sightseeing? posh or budget?) and what your budget is.

The Italian Riviera is actually quite a large area, stretching from the French border to the seaside near Pisa. Did you have a destination in mind?

I would suggest you do a search on each of your titiles - it. riviera; paris how long? something like that just to get some posts up. Read what others have already asked and been answered then forumlate some more specific questions that others can answer easier.

Although I would agree that it would help a lot if we knew your interests and budget, my wife and I found Paris one of the most wonderfully romantic spots on the planet (and we've been to QUITE a few). If art museums, churches, and shopping are what you are looking for; I'll recommend it for a honeymoon.

Don't stay any less than 7 nights in Paris - more if you have day trip(s) in mind.

I think that would be a great honeymoon! First piece of advice: stay in your first destination for at least a few days so you can catch up on sleep and relax. I had my honeymoon last year and it was a very busy trip with not enough recovery time at the beginning. We were exhausted from all the wedding festivities and would have needed 4-5 days just to recuperate.

I would also suggest getting an open-jaw ticket from home to Paris, then from Italy to home. You can probably find some good, cheap flights between Paris and wherever you're going on the Riviera or even take the train. You could do 1 week in Paris, 1-2 days down to Italy (depending on transport), 1 week in Italy, then home.

Your honeymoon is the ideal time to take it easy, soak everything in and enjoy being newlyweds!

We did a similiar trip a few years ago, my wife and I are in are mid to late twenties currently. Paris is incredible and I agree with the previous poster plan a few days there first with no day trips, relax, spend some "quality time" together and slowly walk through paris. Then do as we did and go to the cinque terra in Italy, just south of genoa. Now you can find plently of info on the area here, and it is true that it is crowded, but it is still incredible. If your young and active like us there are hikes all over and not just the ones between the towns, there is more difficult ones easily findable up the mountains, just ask all the pleasant germans with their high socks and walking sticks. Not to mention the incredible swimming, theres a nude beach in cornegilia, and great sea food. Plus if you play hoops I found a few pick up games in monterosso at a court basically next to the sea.
