Well, we booked our 2 car rentals today with AutoEurope ;picking them up at Perugia railstation , dropoff at Perugia Airport. This seemed to work the best. They were not responsive at all to Foligno.

It was too expensive to try to fly to Perugia , Florence, or Rome from Munich(9 of us) and it was not a direct flight ,hence we are back to the train. It turns out we only have to change trains once , in Cortona, a plus. We will have a long train ride to Perugia , however it is only one day .We pick up the 2 cars apparently 1/4 mile from the train station, after hours . We were told we will have to pay for someone coming in opening up on a Sat. and evening (after 8:19 Pm).Not sure how much this will cost?
Hopefully , we get into Nocera Umbra before 10 pm.Would 've liked this to be much earlier .

Thanks, tcreath and others that contributed eg. renting out of Perugia .

Glad to hear that your trip details seem to be falling into place. I would have one concern though...I would want to know the cost in advance for the after hours pick-up. Will they not provide you with that info up front?

We look foward to a trip report upon your return.

Good luck and enjoy!!

Hi Crazyfortravel,
Yes, I definitely want to know the extra cost re after hours pickup.

We did get a 5% reduction in rental when the rep. thought we wouldn't rent right away. Don't want to lose that in after hours pickup.

I guess this trip has been a challenge in planning since we are visiting 5 countries. I don't know how I would have done some of it without this forum , have gained so much info.
I am tho, undecided again re phones. Thought I had it figured out for us , now, not so sure?

However ,our trip is a dream soon to be realized and we are so apprecitative!

Soon I am taking 11 artfriends to Umbria. We need a good itenerary idea for traveing to away from our rental for 3 oe so days. We are in the Gubbio area. We would like to do a wine tasting lunch or maybe a cooking class. It seems really expensive to have a half day cooking/trip to the market for us at around 1200 euros!! Help.

artgirl1, you should start a new thread with a title closer to the advice you're seeking.
