We have spent many a Holy Week near Malaga and used to take the train in for the evening processions and they are so very memorable and moving. Also the week prior to enter the churches and view the large statues awaiting their viewing throughout the towns. Great memories and that is where pictures are so precious. Have a good one. Halfpint

Your daughter will be able to see more processions than she can count on Good Friday in Seville. All she needs to do is to go out and join the crowds. We spent from late Maundy Thursday to Good Friday afternoon "chasing" processions, like the locals. They're impossible to miss-can't help but bump into them.

If your daughter isn't arriving in Madrid until Easter Sunday, she will miss the processions. There are 2 in Old Madrid on Saturday-
one at 8 am at the Plaza de Jesús and
another starting on Calle Arenal 13 at 5 pm
If she can make it, she might enjoy attending the solemn mass Easter Sunday at noon at the cathedral of La Almudena next to the Royal Palace.

Last, some images of the procession in the "red light district" of Bilbao, very popular and full of emotion. Hookers donīt work that night and are all on the street watching the procession march.

I accidentally posted this info on the US site first. But, I was in Barcelona during Holy Week 2008 and was surprised and disappointed that I was unable to attend a church service on Easter. We went to Sagrada Familia, got in the building, but the actual service was blocked off. At the Cathedral, only members with passes were allowed to enter during services. By then we had missed trying other churches. Just a note to those who might be planning a trip during that time. We had already visited the Sagrada, didn't intend the Easter service to be a tourist event, rather a religious event.
