Holiday in spain

Hola!
I'm planning a holiday in Spain for 9-10 days in Aug with my friend and would really appreciate any advice, suggestions regarding cities, travel options(bus/train),festivals/events(art,architecture,music) etc. We would be flying from London to Barcelona/Madrid,so just wondering if we should head up north or south,as Spain is such a big country don't think doing both would be possible?? The cities we had in mind so far were Barcelona,Seville,Valencia,Bilbao,Ibiza,San Sebastian,Madrid...
Also,we were keen on attending the Sol festival in Sierra de Gata -Extremadura. Most travel blogs don't mention this region,so wondering if its worth exploring.
Gracias !!
Love & Peace

Don't know Extremadura. Best to head North arcelona, Bilbao, San Sebastian, Santander..

San Sebastián celebrates its annual Aste Nagusia/Big Week from 13th to 20th of August: http://www.whatsonwhen.com/sisp/inde...vent_id=182281

Can't be many better places on the planet, I've come back almost every year since 1987: http://marshlands.blogstream.com/

Fly from Barcelona to Bilbao with Vueling from some 30€ in one hour. Five flights daily. Direct bus from Bilbao airport to San Sebastián in 75 mins. Leaves once an hour.

One of the favourite holiday destinations for the Spanish themselves, also because of the cooler temperatures but first and foremost for being a fantastic city.

Euskadi (Basque Country) is amazing!

…and the 'pintxos' (tapas) in San Sebastián are outstanding.

Also, what is the best way to go about planning the itinerary in each city, in terms of sight seeing, stay and travel.Would a travel agency work out cheaper,in terms of special deals and packages?? or doing it ourselves a better idea...any links would be appreciated...

Regarding clubs and the party scene, some of Spain's best discos are found along the different beaches in San Sebastián. Here's a couple of them:

www.rotondadisco.com/

Also a great night club at the seafront close to the town hall. But I prefer the more laid back music cafés/night clubs behind the Cathedral. At least some ten places around here with the best vibe.

Regarding San Sebastián to Madrid, you can fly from close by Bilbao in one hour from some 30-50€. Direct buses and trains from San Sebastián to Madrid in 5-6 hours.

Do San Sebastián yourself, small city and you can't do much wrong. During Aste Nagusia the city will be upside down, just go with the flow. Fabulous food, beaches and nightlife on practically speaking the same spot.

hey thnx Kimhe..
just wondering if it would be worth exploring Ibiza since everyone keeps saying its a must visit destination. In which case we could maybe do Valencia and then a ferry to Ibiza..Any thoughts ??
The cities -Barcelona,Bilbao,San Sebastian,Madrid, or replace Bilbao/Santander with Valencia/Ibiza.which is more interesting?? the coast or the north...since south as u all mentioned cz of the weather is out.. and also hw many days is sufficient in them ?
