Marilyn - like minds - sure "the lady with the sheets" - one of the funniest threads in a long time, and it still manages to rear it's ugly head now and again.

Like most, was so disappointed that Kendra and Freddy won. If it wasn't for that damn train crossing that helpd back Kris and Jon, they might have given Kendra & Freddy a last minute run to the finish. Right after the show, Kendra & Freddy were on the local CBS station in NYC... apparently all the participants were partying at a restaurant; there she was talking to the reporter, out on the street in as brief as top as when she was in hottest Africa or Asia - it was less than 40-degrees last evening. Very strange girl and her remark that Freddy was worthy to have a children - as the saying goes "not with someone elses (fill in the word)" as my partner said.

Rebecca is another story - think she really wanted to do the AR, and sadly Adam was the only person available to join here. But I must say, she did have a fast and funny personality "this guy has three testicles" in the taxi in Xi'an and there were others comments throughout... fast wit, which I appreciate. Hopefully now, Adam will be able to cross the street by himself.

While this was the most disappointing AR, with not enough in-country scenery, too much running around - fast, fast - getting nowhere, I'll be around for the next one. Hopefully, CBS has read the many comments that went to them about their poor choice of contestants - the whinning, screaming, infantile performances.

It takes all kinds, c'est la vie!

not to dig up the past, but freddy and kendra were not even close to flo and zach. *shudders* flo! they should have a winners race pretty soon where they bring back past winning groups or maybe even the runner ups as well.

We'd have to organize GTGs all over the country to watch every week. Maybe we could get CBS to subsidize our partying!

I hope someone talks that disgusting couple into taking some of their winnings and enroll in some etiquette and culture classes. They are the type of travellers who give Americans a bad name. (as noted earlier)What a big shame...I bet they don't even continue to travel internationally... Or should I say I hope they do not!!!!

crefloors, who will carry all the luggage? Will there be special time-outs so MK can change the required half dozen times a day?

Marilyn...well I guess if they are in India they can hire some sherpa porters..the rest of the way..well, I can't imagine MK2 schlepping luggage somehow..well, maybe he can travel light just this once as long as his shorts are pure silk and the backpack is mink lined.

I think a Fodor's Amazing Race in Europe would be a slam-dunk compared to this last AR show. I mean, we have some strong and sometimes strident personalities here, but at least we don't get many clueless, vapid ones.

And we could be reassured, given all the fashion threads, that few Fodorites would be racing through Europe wearing sports bras and bicycle shorts. We'd could race in STYLE!

And if Robespierre were along, no one would ever get lost. Ever.

Can you just see it now ?

"......A detour is a choice between two tasks: each with its own pros and cons. In this detour, teams have to choose between Fashion and Compassion. In Fashion, teams have to travel a mile to find this store called ‘Balthazar’. There they will have to sort through a pile of twenty garments whose designer labels have been removed, and arrange the garments in piles by designer, and then in order of the season that they appeared, before they are handed their next clue. There are no Dries van Noten pieces. This task is nearby, but may take a long time getting the clothes in the correct pile and correct order.
In Compassion, teams must travel to Paris, sit in this outdoor café, and take twenty pictures of tourists committing fashion crimes. That is, twenty people either not wearing black from head to toe, or wearing a fanny pack, or wearing socks with sandals. Although Paris is 50 miles away - teams can finish very quickly...."

Any guesses which FODORITE dreamteams would excel at these tasks ?

Well, if I was on a Fodorite team, I'd pick compassion. Head into Paris and have my partner take photos of all my fashion faux pax (plural of pas?) Maybe I'd pick Phil Flash with all his photo equipment so I'd look decent in the photos.

- Pink jogging suit
- Tennis shoes
- Black socks
- Fanny pack (provided by AR crew)
- fake pashmina
- banded
- jeans
- clothes from Wal-Mart
- wash-n-wear wardrobe
- no tumi luggage

Oh Mathieu, that is just BRILLIANT!

ncgrrl, Phil Flash is happy to go to Paris any time -- just send the ticket. Of course, since he technically only interfaces with fodorville through me, I'll have to be on the team as well.

I'm sitting here trying to write detailed papers on supply chain improvement, but this is just so much more entertaining.

Marilyn,

You, me, Phil Flash, and someone else on the 4 person 'family edition.'

As Phil said on the CBS Early Show, a family in America is made up of many different members.

I'm willing to go rock-paper-scissors for road blocks.

...Oh, and I forgot to add :

"..If teams choose not to complete their chosen task, they will be penalised by having to play a game of charades. They will be given these 20 french words which they will have to mime in front of the 'Council of Proper Pronounciation' which contains some familiar faces. Teams will not be allowed to speak, just use hand actions to communicate the proper pronounciation of the word. Words like 'Uzes', 'St. Remy', 'Eygalieres' and 'Menerbes' are included, and teams had better watch out as to whether they are in the North or South of France as to the way the word might be pronounced there, whether the emphasis is on the first, second or last syllable, and pay special attention to the word's 'méridional' pronunciation. A 4 hour time limit will apply....."

Ms_go, I hear your pain. I'm trying to revise a legal document and have only made it through the first 39 of 160 pages. Not fun to do late in the afternoon.

'Council of Proper Pronounciation'

Why do I think there's a role for me on that?

Ahhh, boo hoo, and so disappointed about the AR winners!!(tape delayed, I just watched the FINALE last night).
I really wanted Jon and Kris to win.
But at least is wasn't Victoria and Jonathan that won! That really would have made me choke. Not my favorite AR race this season, but looking forward to the next one!!!

Thanks Marilyn ! I've been looking at too many words all afternoon.

St. Cirq : I think you should chair the council to keep the other members in line.
