I'm looking forward to seeing Rob and Amber on AR7. AR would test the strength of any relationship. It's like every travel nightmare come true. It will be interesting to see how they get along.

Right! Remember that Maya Angelou quote? Something about knowing someone's true character once you see them react to: (1) A rainy day, (2) tangled Christmas tree lights, and (3) Lost Luggage! How true!

My mom mentioned to my dad that they should try out for AR. I just sat there thinking "this has disaster written all over it!" 44 years of marriage down the tubes - oh well, they had a good run.

Dreamer2... thanks for the quote! I have read most of Maya Angelou's books but don't remember coming across that statement, I'll have to write it down, it's great.

I agree, the AR didn't do much for me this year. I loathed Jonathan so much it turned me off from the show. I think I'm rooting for Hayden and Aaron.

Does anyone else think Kendra looks really botoxed? Or is it just me.....

Was surprised not to find this thread when I checked in this morning. It's usually right up there on Wednesday mornings. Assume the rest of you fans did watch last night's episode. In view of the non-elimination of the last arrivals at the pit stop, it seemed to me the hour was pretty much useless.

Was sorry my now favorites, Chris and Jon, had problems with taxis, but glad they managed to come in third.

Shanghai looked very interesting. Had never had much desire to see China (except as a young adult and Pearl Buck fan), but may change that thinking.

The first show in a long while when there was an actual "race" (no endless waiting around for sites to open, thereby negating any leads) and it turns out to be a non-elimination!!
What has happened to this show??

If I were a cab driver and saw Adam coming at me with his little horns I would refuse to allow him in my cab too.

travelinwifey - she looks not only overly botoxed, but as if she has cheek implants too close to her eye sockets or something odd.

I was biting my nails for Kris and Jon last night. I really hope Hayden doesn't win. Kendra seemed almost nice last night. I was amazed to hear her say she liked Shanghai. Every week I wnt to cut those stupid little bunches of hair that Rebecca's boyfriend(?)has.

Did you hear what Kris/Chris (sp?) said when they were having a hard time getting taxis from the airport? I'm paraphrasing here: "There's a slight communication problem. It's our fault, not theirs. We're in their country." I think a lot of tourists would enjoy their travels more or at least complain less if they had this mentality! I already liked them, but after last night's episode (despite the difficulties and minor loss of temper), I really, really hope they win.

Kris and Jon's good attitudes have impressed me over and over again. So glad they're still in!

This may have already been posted but I heard that "Boston Rob" from survivor was going to be on the next amazing race?

Lots of discussion on that above, Eric. Scroll up a bit.

GO, Kris & Jon!!

And for the rest of you who can't get enough dishing and detailed recaps, I cannot recommend highly enough Television Without Pity. It's a riot!

Did anyone happen to catch that promo during AR for a primetime Dr. Phil show. He will be counseling none other than the couple we all love to hate - Jonathan and Victoria!

taggie, I agree! I was thinking "wow, a real race this week" and then....no elimination. What a let down.

Marilyn, I love televisionwithout pity.com and often laugh out loud. I think you were the first person to recommend that site a year or more ago so, thanks!

Oh, and does anyone know why all the teams had such trouble getting cabs to agree to take them anywhere? There was definitely something going on there.

Did you see that Jonathan and Victoria are going to be featured on the next Dr. Phil special? I want to see how J. wriggles out of responsibility for his behavior.

Question - OK, excuse my ignorance, but they said the problem they were having with Shanghai taxis was only at rush hour. So what was the deal? All these cabs looked unoccupied but they weren't available because it was rush hour? How does that work? Were they reserved or something?

We wondered about the taxi thing, too. Is there a special trick to hailing a taxi in Shanghai?

I think in Shanghai they are not used to having people hailing taxis from just anywhere on the street. All the cabs had phone numbers on them so maybe it's common to book them in advance? (we experienced this a bit in Athens where it was often a challenge to get a cab even if they were just sitting without a fare). Also, there might be designated "pick up" zones.

We were thinking along the same lines as taggie suggested. Either there are designated taxi stops and it is a ticketable offense to pick up passengers elsewhere, or all those empty cabs were on their way to a pre-set pickup.

Thanks, Suki, but twas not I. In fact, I'm pretty sure I learned about TWoP on this board.

Kendra desperately needs some cultural sensitivity sessions. "The Harlem of Chna" proved how little she knows about Harlem, and "Ghetto Beijing" just reaffirmed what a narrowminded jerk she is.

Another great site for the snarky re-caps of reality shows is: www.planetsocks.com
