We took a boat tour of Geiranger fjord. Coming back to the town, it stopped at the base of the cliff to allow passengers to get off so that they could hike up to the farm above (now a museum), and from there back into town.

There is some great hiking in Bergen. Just take the vernicular to Fløien Mountain and there are tons of trails and great views.

Some great hikes at Balestrand too. If I remember correctly there is a large map with various trails marked that's near the Viking Mounds. Just ask at your hotel, they'll know.

The Viking Mounds are found are on the main road along the south bank of the fjord about a 1/2 mile from harbour. Look for the statue of King Bele; however, the mounds are quite obvious.

We stayed at the Balestrand Hotel. There is a very nice sized mountain behind it with several marked hiking trails indicating the difficulty level. Take your camera for when you get to the top, nice views.

Some additional info to reply #1 (Michael):

You can disembark the sightseeing boat or hire at water taxi (Geirangerfjorden Feriesenter). The hike starts at Skagehola and you hike to Homlong and back to Geiranger town.
