High speed ferries in August
Hi there,
we are travelling to Greece in August (I know, high season, but my work place policy forces us to travel then).
The flight from Spain is extremely inexpensive and we have managed to book some basic (but they look nice) places in Athens, Santorini and Naxos.
We plan to book ferries early, but ... I have just realized that our trip between Santorini and Naxos is scheduled for friday, the 15th. I had thought of getting a high speed ferry to Naxos ( we got one in May 2002 ), but I cannot find any information.
Does anyone know if it still exist and if I can book it, or should we resign ourselves to the Blue Star in the afternoon?
Thanks a lot,
Cova

You may be thinking of FlyingCat 4, which I understand used to stop at Naxos, but no longer does.
There is a new catamaran, SuperJet, which is operated by Sea Jets Consortium: http://tinyurl.com/52wp6q
Were it me, I would go with Blue Star. It is very reliable, doesn't take much longer to get to Naxos, and you can go out on deck for a good view as you are leaving Santorini.

Hi Heimdall,
thanks for the prompt response. That was the catamaran I was thinking of. I seemed to remember that we arrived after 15:00 in Naxos, but I should go back and check my notes. I also remembered that I wasnīt very fond of being closed and not being able to spend time on deck. As you mention, the views (and the fresh air) are a great plus.
I had been hoping to be able to go earlier into Naxos, in case there was some kind of festivities on due to the date we were arriving,. Oh well, we will manage to do something in Santorini that morning.
Thanks again. Iīll probably be back with more questions later on.
Kind regard, Cova

Hi Cova,
The link I included in my last post dropped all the info for some reason, but the ferry is Superjet, which leaves Santorini at 10:30am, and arrives on Naxos at 1:00pm, with stops enroute at Amorgos and Koufonissi. It is very similar to the FlyingCat4.
I will try the link again, but if it doesn't work this time, just go to www.gtp.gr and input the islands and dates yourself:

Hi Heimdall,
thanks a lot for the new link. I think we will probably get the Blue Star that afternoon.
Itīs been six years since I was there with my family, and itīs the first time for my friend, so we are really looking to our holidays.
Bye, Cova
