Help with train tickets
I am really confused. Can anyone tell me, is there an overnight train from Sevilla, Granada, or Cordoba that will get me to Barcelona? I am happy to use trenhotel, if that is all that is available, but we are willing to share a sleeping compartment if necessary. Please help.

Yes from Seville and Granada there are night trains to Barcelona - i took one a few years ago from Granada to Barcelona. they have a panoply of sleeping options, including private doubles at a price cheaper than similar night trains in other countries.

The AVE from Sevilla to Madrid Atocha runs almost hourly and takes 2-1/2 hours.
From Madrid Chamartin to Barcelona Sants there is an Estrell night train departing at 22h00 arriving 07h38. That cost me 16 euro for a T4 bunk, with my Eurailpass covering the train cost. Before boarding, my bottle of Madrid Crianza cost 3.85 euro. I slept like a baby and woke refreshed for a day of Barcelona. I think there is also a superior night train, the Trenhotel, but I have no info.

I suggest you go to the Iberia web site and check them out.
Check each flight (hourly more or less).
One day over or even one flight over could give you an almost free ticket.
Two years ago we flew from Granada to Barcelona. We took the 7PM flight (arrived 8PM) after spending time in the Alhambra.
The cost was 55E for both of us. The taxi to the airport cost half that much.
Check it out.
We stayed at the H10 Placa Catalunya. We took the blue bus from the airport for 2-3E. It stopped in front of el Cortes Ingles opposite the hotel.
Kess than an hour after landing we were walking on the Ramblas.

You say: "we are willing to share a sleeping compArtment" if necessary: The sleeping compartment we had on the todo-Preferente Sevilla-Barcelona Tren Hotel was for two people: one upper and one lower.
It was very quiet and comfortable.
