On this upcoming trip we are visiting 7 countries, and I have to say that Norway is just stumping me for some reason. I have finished planning all the other places, but I find Norway most confusing place for me to try to make sense of an itinerary. The ferrys add to the confusion and time considerations for sure.

If I cut Flam to one night and then spend the next night in Solvorn would that be better? Or perhaps I should forget about Alsund and just head as far as Geiranger. I would rather do less and see things than just say I covered a lot of ground.

We stayed in Solvorn 0only because we wanted to see the Urnes stave church. Check out my trip report; there aren't too many sleeping options in Solvorn. Flam did not impress me as an overnight stay. It was just a transfer point between the train and the ferry.

Hi Michael, I have read your report many times. The church looks great so that is why we decided to do that too, and drive on the other side like you did
