Help with this Itinerary

I would appreciate getting some advise on the following itinerary. My husband and I will be traveling to Munich in July for a week’s stay, We would like to include a side trip to Prague. We will be traveling by car and need to know if this itinerary is too aggressive or at all possible.

7/11 – Arrive Munich (around noon), leave for Prague
7/12 – Spend the day touring Prague
7/13 – Leave Prague in route to Heidelberg
7/14 – Spend the day and night in Heidelberg
7/15 – Leave Heidelberg in route to Konstanz
7/16 – Spend the day and night touring Konstanz
7/17 – Leave Konstanz in route to Fussen
7/17 – Spend the day touring the areas around Fussen
7/18 – Leave Fussen for Munich

Coolu;

This is a lot of miles to travel with only 6 days IMHO. If you are arriving Munich from the US you will have jet lag and plan on driving to Prague? Have you calculated the driving distance? If you have your heart set on Prague, I would eliminate Heidelberg and maybe one other city. You are not allowing yourself any time to see the cities you want to visit. I would recomend Arrival day spend night in Munich, drive to Prague day 2, spend 2 days in Prague, drive to Konstanz and spend full day their and two days in and around Fuessen and then back to Munich.

Sorry, coolu, I believe it is a long way from Munich to Prague for just one day.We will be doing the same in July, but we have more time, and we will stay in Salzburg, Cesky Krumlov, Viena and so on. Why don't you try to stay around Munich. There are lovely places, like the romantic road- Rithenburg ob der Tauber, up to Fussen. Or try the Rein on the north, leaving from Mainz till Koln. As you said I think it is too agressive, you will be travelling most of the time, and will not enjoy the towns.

It IS alot of moving around. I do think your "side trip" to Prague is too much out of the way when there is so much to see around Munich.

Hi C,

I suggest saving Prague for another visit.

It is 4 hr from M to P - and you will be jet lagged.

It is another 5 hr from Prague to Heidelburg.

Half of your time is going to be spent in the car.

With only 6 nights, I suggest limiting your time to Munich, Fuessen and the Bodensee.

Thank you all for your input. I thought our plans were a bit to ambitious.

As suggested, I think we'll leave Prague for another visit and spend our time traveling around Munich.

Thanks again!
