Help with online Train Ticket Purchase
Thanks so much for all the help so far with buying tickets on the trenitalia site. I just tried to purchase 4 tickets from Venice S.L. to Florence. It came back with the assignment: Coach 6, seats: 31, 32, 38, 33. I had clicked on the 2 rows of 2 seats facing each other, but either they have a crazy numbering system or these seats are not together. Does anyone have experience with this? I couldn't find a seat map anywhere on the site.
I also need to purchase 2 additional tickets and see where I would designate which seats to be located near. . . but I'm afraid to book these first 4 without knowing we are together since 2 of us are children.
I appreciate any help you could offer.

Funny, the same thing happened to me this evening! I went back to the seat assignment page and clicked again, that time I got 4 seats in numerical order. THen I purchased them. I also had trouble using one credit card, and then tried again with another. The second one worked flawlessly. I can only assume the first credit card had a block on it for purchasing out of the country.

These are 2nd class seats? I don't think x8 seats exist in 1st class.
Sequential seats are across from each other. 31 and 33 are next to each other. 31 and 32 are across the table, both window seats. I think the 38 is the window seat on the other side of the aisle, alone. I have never gotten the seats I requested in Trenitalia's seating diagram. They placed us in close vicinity, but not necessarily next to each other.

Check out this thread I started earlier this year. I still haven't got a good answer:
fodors.com/forums/threadselect.jsp?fid=2&tid=34730224
By anyways, the seating are like this:
w 31 33 a 37 35 w
w 32 38 a 34 36 w
w = window
a = aisle
Thereofre 31, 32, 38, 33 are 4 seats together, facing each other. If you want to get two other seats, best is to get 34 & 37.
Or get 22 & 28, or 41 & 43 to have the other 2 persons on the same side of the train behind two of you.
