Help with London train?

https://ojp.nationalrail.co.uk/servi...deslowertrains

We did this journey three years ago, and it was a piece of cake.
Now construction delays and a bus is involved…two changes.

Is there a better way? I don’t mind the extra hour travel time as much as the possible confusion.

Thanks for any advice!

Are you trying to get to the House or to a nearby village? One option would be to take the train only as far as Stansted Airport and a taxi from there . . . its maybe a 20-25 minute drive

Janisj, thank you for this. Our goal is to meet friends who live in village near Audley End.
The journey to Stansted also seems to include a change to bus.

They mentioned perhaps collecting us in Epping but I hoped to save them this excursion.

Then I'd look at taking the train from Kings Cross to Royston -- Royston to Audley End is about a 20 minute drive. Ask your friends if this is a better option.

Meant to add KX > Royston is a 50 minute to 1-ish hour journey with no changes

St Pancras to Royston also looks good then.
Thank you Janis for an elegant solution!

(Just realized the proximity of Kings Cross and St Pancras)

Maybe I'm not reading this correctly, but Greater Anglia Rail is showing direct service, no connection or interruption, between Liverpool St. Station and Audley End... 53 minutes. I checked several dates through June...

Thanks Jean, but as luck would have it, I’m looking at early May.

I had used random dates in May and got the same works schedule/coach substitutions/2 connections fo Audley End - so using the same random dates the routing through Royston seems to have normal schedules.
