Help with Hotels in Venice & Florence

I've spent a lot of time trying to figure out where to stay in these two places. Just when I decide I read a review on line about a smelly room or not a great breakfast. Someone wrote about Casa Vernardo their room smelled bad.

Anyway, need a good breakfast with meats and cheeses, and hotel in good location for both Venice and Florence. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

For Venice I can wholeheartedly recommend The Foscari Palace. It has the most spectacular breakfast spread and is located in Cannaregio right next to the Ca'd'Ora vap stop. It's a 10-15 minute walk to Piazza San Marco (5 minutes to the Rialto Bridge).

In Florence I can recommend the Tourist House Ghiberti and the Morandi alla Crocetta.
