help with beyoglu hotel

We're looking for a hotel under $300 where we can walk easily to restaurants & ideally to the major sites, as well. We'd like to stay in Beyoglu.

Hi, jenack,

there are lots of lovely people here on Fodors [much niore than me!] who would love to help you plan your trip, but you make thier task much easier if you do a bit of your own research first.

for example, have you looked in a guide book? on trip advisor? on google?

I did the latter, and in 30 seconds, I'd found the swisshotel for $259 a night. they have maps too!

regards, ann

We just stayed at the Hyatt Regency which is a 5 min walk from taksim square. It was clean and fairly affordable. If you pay the extra and stay on the club floor they have an excellent breakfast and afternoon snacks. This saves on the cost of at least breakfast.

Marmara Pera is a nice business/tourist hotel in a great location; the price would be in your range and they have sea view rooms. Decor is modern. Hotel is across the street from the Pera Palas. But you cannot walk easily from there to sights in the old city.

The rooftop restaurant got very good reviews soon after opening.

The Pera Palace is undergoing renovation..may not be open for a while. We stayed at the Hyatt and had a great view of the Bosphorus...we found it convenient to Istiklal Cadessi(u)...shops restaurants, fairly long walk to the other side of the Horn. I'm not sure how high up the rates have gone...

Hi

Have a look at the Orient Express room at the Grand Hotel de Londres - http://www.londrahotel.net.

You can get good hotels for the rate but which period are you planning to stay. If your time happnes to coinside with a congress than too difficult to find something good with 300 USD.

Marmara Pera is a choice and one can go to old city using Tunel and finnicular.

Richmond is right in Istiklal for example.

Happy travelling,
Murat
