Help with accommodations in Baveria

We will be traveling to Baveria this fall and are looking for recommendations for a Gastehaus in the Berchtesgaden area and in Mittenwald or Garmisch-Partenkirchen . We are looking for something with private bath, some place nice, but not luxury. My husband prefers rural. Thanks for any help!

There's q guy here named Bavaria Ben, with this website: http://www.bensbauernhof.com - - I have never actually browsed it all that much, but I think it might make a good starting point for what you are seeking.

Best wishes,

Rex

We stayed in the Alpenrose Gasthaus in the middle of Mittenwald on the fussganger zone in April and we liked it a lot. Nice people, comfy rooms with ensuite facilities. We took the half board and the breakfast and evening meal were both great. They had a guy playing the electric zither in the dining room / gast haus in the evening.

We enjoyed a five-night stay at - www.haus-schurr.de.vu - a ferienwohnung/ski chalet in the Leutaschtal which is above Mittenwald.

We also had an enjoyable five-night stay at Haus Blum’Reit (use Google), a ferienwohnung/farmhouse near Marktschellenberg (Berchtesgaden).

Each location is indeed rural and you'd be the only guests of the owners in their own residence. Very nice...

Garmisch: We have enjoyed staying in the HILLEPRANDT HOTEL in Garmisch. It is small and located in a neighborhood not far from the town center. Rooms #1 or #2 have patios to the backyard area.

Berchtesgaden: We have stayed in the WATZMANN HOTEL a few times. Nice people and nice rooms.

I can highly recommend the Gasthof Oberwirt in Ramsau near Berchtesgaden.

We really liked Hotel Baveria in Berchtesgaden - www.bavaria-hotel.de.

You might want to take a look at Hotel Reiger in Mittenwald - we didn't stay there as it wasn't open at the time of our off season visit, but it looked like a very nice place and much nicer than the hotel we did stay in.

BTW - If you like applestrudel, be sure to check out Grassl's Bistro Cafe in Berchtesgaden (haven't been there for a few years, but I assume it's still around).

If you are interested in an apartment last year we stayed at Haus Marienblick in Berchtesgaden. www.marienblick.de/english/ There are two apartments, we had the one with 1 bedroom which was only EU40 per night for the two of us. It was extremely spacious and comfortable, totally immaculate and Ingrid, the owner was charming. We arrived after the shops were closed and she provided us with bread, milk, butter, cheese, cold drinks, cold meats etc. and wouldn't take any payment!! The house is in a very quiet spot but only about 5 mins walk into the town of Berchtesgaden and a big plus was sitting on the front terrace with a view looking straight at the Eagles Nest, magic.
