Help with accommodation: quick trip to Barcelona
Fodorites, I just found out I may be taking a trip to Barcelona in two weeks. I have never been there before.
Any budget accommodation recs? I checked my usual online booking sites like hotels.de and of the hotels still available, the best of the bunch seemed to be the HCC Hotel Covadonga--single rate of 95 euros per night. I will be busy all day during my trip, so I don't need anything special, but I would like clean, comfortable, in a good location with restaurants nearby (this one is located at: Avda Diagonal 596). The TA reviews are mostly positive.
Any other suggestions of nice places with singles around the 100 euro mark? This is a short trip, just 4 nights, and I'll have only one day for sightseeing
but better one day than none!

Hi we had a 1 bedroom apt for 100 euro/night through inside BCN. It was in the El born district. It was fantastic location value for price safe neighborhood. Very hip and happening area. walking distance to many sights, metro and great restaurants with in 1-2 blocks. We would definitely use inside BCN again. They were very helpful and the accommodations perfect

We were just in Barcelona for 2 months and I checked out a few hotels while we were there..
Banys Orientals is in a great location and the singles rates are listed at 100E

Friends of ours stayed at Regencia Colon Hotel while visiting us (sister hotel to Hotel Colon - behind it at the Cathedral Square) - saw their room - it was recently renovated and just fine....prices are within your budget I think.

For ideas of things to do in that neighbourhood (our apartment was about 100 metres from the Cathedral) see our blog at

Thanks!
I checked with Regencia Colon and alas, no rooms. I emailed Banys and am waiting for a reply.
As this is my first trip to Barcelona and it will be fairly hectic (business), I would prefer a hotel over an apartment. For a leisure trip, an apartment would be lovely. Just not this time.
There is a big convention at the time (which is why I'm going) so things are very booked up. I ended up booking a room at an airport hotel (blecch) as a safety net. I can cancel without penalty until the day before arrival, so if the Banys comes through, I'll definitely switch. Fingers crossed!
The Covadongas has raised its rates to over 175 a night single and the client doesn't want to pay that much (ahhh, last minute business trips to major conventions and the hunt for a good quality, central hotel at bargain rates).
