If going to Andalucia around those dates....don't miss the Cordoba Patio Festival, its definitely worth seeing. These people did a great video from this year's patio festival http://www.spain-holiday.com/Cordoba...-de-los-patios

Oh, please do a daytrip to Segovia from Madrid! (or even stay overnight)
One of the highlights of my trip to Madrid.
If you like to hike, then there is a fabulous walk you can do outside the castle walls -- there is a path that goes along the walls, and there is also a trail on the other side of a gorge along a hilltip that parallels the town and it is wonderful. i have to confess that I ended up on the hilltop trail by accident and had to bushwack my way back but with better advance planning (and decision-making= I should have retraced my steps rather than forge on...) you should be able to find your back better than I did!
I don't know when sunflowers bloom, but you have the potential to do a hike with a field of sunflowers on one side, the magical castle, cathedral and old city of Segovia on the other and ahead of you hills in the distance....When I did this hike, the sunflowers were all dead, but even with blackened heads, the vista was stunning!
