Help Please - Problems with Renfe train ticket purchase
I am trying to buy tickets for Madrid to Sevilla. After I put in all the information, I get the message "The process cannot continue right now. We apologize for any inconvenience (G001)". This is for Estrella tickets for 5 (web not available). I have tried MasterCard, AmEx, and a debit card. I have also registered through TikNet. Thanks for your help.

What are the dates of travel? If you're trying to book too far in advance, the system won't accept the request. The Italian national rail system is the same way and gives a response earlier in the process, similar to "There are no results."

March 22 is our day of travel, which just opened up today. I get past all the ordering part. It's after I click on the purchase button. I get the message that they are connecting with my bank and that any problems from that point on are out of Renfe's control. Then I get the "process cannot continue" message.

Do not blame yourself or your credit card or bankers, the renfe new site or redone one is working very badly.
I am a regular user of trains in Spain and while I could make the old site work well I am not able to buy a ticket in the new site.
I am continuosly complaining to them by phone or email and getting nowhere.

I agree with car; the new Renfe site is my favorite site to hate at the moment- totally unpredictable and full of glitches. It's experiencing a multitude of "growing pains". Just keep trying.

We have also read (on another forum) that some US residence are having problems using CC. So you should check with teh card company.

Yes, that's the error message I got when my CC company was denying the transaction as from overseas. I had to call back twice because the first time they authorized an overseas transaction, but only if it used the CVV code (or whatever those extra three numbers are), and then the second time they authorized it even without those numbers, just with the credit card number and expiration.

I haven't had any problems purchasing with my American c.c., but it appears that many have.
Again, there are just many very, very frustrating glitches in this new system that need to be ironed out still.
For example, after purchasing one Madrid-Segovia AVE ticket, when attempting to purchase another, Segovia completely disappeared from the drop down menu! I went to another computer, opened a different browser, and Segovia reappeared.
When I tried to print out my first Madrid-Segovia ticket in pdf format, the car and seat numbers didn't appear. I sent the pdf file to another computer, printed again, and all information appeared.
When trying to book a Madrid-Zaragoza AVE ticket 60 days out, it says there are no trains for that day. But there certainly ARE!
When attempting to book the Altaria Madrid-Pamplona for Feb. it gives me the same message.
When I see that annoying "there are no trains for your date" message, I suspect it's simply because Renfe hasn't loaded those tickets onto the system yet.
So I just keep trying (and trying and trying...)

I'm glad it's not just me. I'm trying to price tickets from Madrid-Segovia and Madrid-Barcelona and I keep getting the "there are no trains for your date" error as well. We aren't traveling until April, but I would love to get the new Web discount, but it is frustrating!

We have also been having problems booking night train from Barcelona to Granada for 2 Adults and 2 children for mid-March. The website, http://www.renfe.es/horarios/english/index.html gives the option of "Bed", but once you hit on the "Tickets", it only provides "Tourist Class" option, https://w1.renfe.es/vol/. We were hoping to get a compartment for four. Any ideas how we can book the ticket and take advantage of Web Fares. Does Renfe have an email address that may help to make the reservation. Thanks

wftraveler,
Renfe does have a email address but unfortunately in my expirience is good for nothing as they just don't answer.
The fares they offer on the web are not offered elsewhere.
In a short time hopefully they will open the new Madrid-Barcelona speed train it will take just over two hours but it seems that buying the tickets could take three days.
And we thought Iberia was bad.
All I can said is , keep trying and let's hope that the good profesionals that work in renfe have a chance to do their job properly.
The main reason behind is of course the coming elections (9March) and the priority of having the Madrid-Barcelona line opened before.
This fact is making the whole company go upside down.

Renfe has never ever been any better than Iberia !!! They do their best to keep their status and their website is the proof !! It has never worked properly..I mean, one day works...the next doesn't ...well, it's Renfe !!!
(take it all with a pinch of Spanish sense of humour)

i have been conversing with renfe too much lately. i will share the results of my multiple questions.
info: although one can buy most tickets 60 days out.. not always so on their website, nor even some routes in march by phone. why ?? no one knows.
- no webfares for sleepers. only tarifa estrella. and i am not sure you can even buy THAT over the web.
this is really frustrating. hang in there. supoosedly they will be loading more dates soon although the telephone rep said sometimes they are not even loaded until 15-20 days in advance on the web.
patience

I was finally able to buy my tickets but I had to do them one at a time. I think that it gave me the "process cannot continue message" because I was trying to buy 5 Estrella tickets. Even though Estrella showed up in the drop down menu for all 5, I don't think there were that many available. I got 3 (individually) at Estrella rate, then had to pay Tourist rate for last 2. Seats are fairly close together.
