Help!! Paragon Hotel In Earls Court/London?

I need some help quickly...I booked a trip through go-today to London in Nov, and the hotel I requested (Plaza on Hyde Park in Bayswater) is not available. They have just given me the Paragon Hotel in Earls Court and I need to let them know today whether or not I'm going to take it. I don't know anything about the Earls Court area (except that it seems to be out of the way to major attractions??) or the Paragon hotel. I am a late 20's female traveling alone for this trip, so safety and convenience are my 2 biggest priorities in terms of where I stay. Can anyone offer some advice - fast!! Thanks!!

Stayed there in 2000--it is a hotel that has lots of Trafalgar tours booked in. My friend and I were doing a London Week and it was the least expensive. It was about a 8 block to one metro(maybe West Brompton)--and a bit farther to the other. It seemed to be an OK hotel--if you were not on the tour pkg. you got to eat in the good dining room for breakfast. We ate dinner there one night and it was fine. Seemed to be other places around to eat--we usually had our dinner some where else before we came back to hotel. we did day trips to various garden sites, which left from central London, so we did use the tube. The room was nice, and fair sized. I don't want to influence you in anyway--but if that was the only place I could stay, I would do so again.

Keep looking, it's too far out and an 8 block walk to the Tube is way too much. There are a zillion hotels in London with better locations.

I stayed in that area one time and will not again. Too far out and the trains became few and far in the evening. Very inconvenient. Especially for a single woman.

I don't know the Paragon Hotel, but Earl's Court is significantly further out than Bayswater. For that reason alone, I would not consider that a comparable substution for the same price.

I'd ask Go-today if they'd give you something else in the same area, or maybe pay a bit more for accomodations in Bloomsbury or Kensington. You should be able to get a hotel within about 4 blocks of the tube, preferably in a neighborhood that has more within walking distance.

With the single supplements, I've not found even Go-today's rates to be any better than what I can book on my own, at least from my point of departure. You might also check packages from offpeaktraveler.com, British Airways Holidays, and Virgin Vacations for the dates you have in mind. Perhaps they have better accomodations available?
