Help on 2 star in in Wolfgang area

I've been looking at hotels on www.wolgangsee.at, I don't really care for the 4 star hotels, too expensive and they have a lot of amenities we do not need. I found a 2 star inn called Gasthof Franz-Josef, it looks good on the pictures with private balconies over the lake, the only thing I'm worried about is the 2 star rating and what's the difference between an inn and a hotel, it looks the same and is described the same. Their prices for the nicest one in the month of May is 72 euros for 2 persons, should I be worried and stick to a 3 star resort. Appreciate opinions.

Hi S,

We generally stay in 2* properties.

The star ratings are based on "amenities", eg, does it have a conference room?, not on how nice a place might be.

There are no real differences between Inns and Hotels.

The FJ looks very nice.

Enjoy your visit.

Suze, You really are serious in your quest for that perfect place. I would not be afraid of a 2 star, but I find that prices reflect supply and demand--you get what you pay for.

Suze, you left out an "f" in the web link, so if anyone else wants to look, it's:
www.wolfgangsee.at

(hope I haven't made a different typo!)

IMO, it's looks fine! The only we would find fault with is that it doesn't take pets (since we take our dog with us on holidays), but that's probably not an issue for you ;-)
Most of the 4* hotels have varying degrees of spa facilities; if you're not interested in those features, you should be happy with the GFJ.
